Mercedes sitting low in the morning? That is Airmatic
Airmatic replaces steel springs with air springs and a compressor. On heavy cars like the GLS, which weighs more than 2.5 tonnes, the air springs leak and the compressor wears out from working too hard.
Dubai heat makes it worse. Rubber air springs age faster in the sun, and a compressor that runs to make up for a small leak overheats and fails. Fix the leak early and the compressor often survives.

Mercedes engines are strong, but each family has one weak spot. The engine code is on your registration or under the bonnet, and we can read it from the VIN.
M272 V6Balance shaft gear wear
On earlier M272 engines, mainly 2005 to 2008 cars, the balance shaft gear teeth can strip, causing vibration, a check engine light and in bad cases a skipped timing chain.

7G-Tronic and 9G-Tronic
Mercedes limp mode or harsh low speed shifts?
On the 7G-Tronic (722.9), a failed conductor plate, the electrical board with the speed sensors inside the gearbox, causes limp mode, harsh shifts and lost gears. It is a common fault and far cheaper than a new gearbox.
The newer 9G-Tronic (725.0) is known for harsh shifts at low speed and hunting between gears on slopes. Many cases improve with a software update and adaptation reset after a proper scan.

The G500 that burst its cooling system at our door
A customer brought a G500 to us for a pre-purchase inspection. As it reached our service bay, the cooling system gave way and sprayed coolant everywhere. Better here than on Sheikh Zayed Road.
