The Ford Cyclone V6 water pump inside the engine
On the 3.5 and 3.7 Cyclone V6, the water pump sits inside the engine and is driven by the timing chain. When its seal fails, coolant can leak into the oil and destroy the engine.
Coolant going down
You keep topping up, but there is no puddle under the car. The coolant may be going into the oil.
Milky oil
A light brown, creamy residue on the dipstick or under the oil cap means coolant and oil are mixing. Stop driving.
Sweet smell
A syrupy smell from the engine bay or the vents, often after a long drive, points to a coolant leak.
White smoke or overheating
White exhaust smoke or the temperature needle rising in summer traffic needs checking the same day.
Caught early, only the pump is replaced, a job of 10 to 12 hours of labour. Left too long, the engine itself may need replacing, which costs far more. Both are quoted after inspection.

EcoBoost engines
Turbo Fords need care in the heat
EcoBoost engines make big power from small turbo engines. Dubai heat and short trips make oil quality and cooling even more important.
Oil on time
Turbos run hot. Fresh oil of the right grade on schedule protects the bearings and the timing chain.
Cooling and intercooler
Hoses, the intercooler and the radiator work hardest in July traffic. We check them before summer.
10 speed and 6 speed automatics
Harsh or busy Ford gear changes?
The 10 speed automatic in the F-150, Mustang, Expedition and newer Explorer shifts often by design. In the F-150, Mustang and Expedition it is the 10R80, developed jointly by Ford and General Motors. Harsh or confused shifts are a different matter.

Software and relearn
Many harsh shift complaints improve after a software update and an adaptive relearn, which teaches the gearbox your driving again.
Fluid condition

2021 and 2022 F-150. The low pressure fuel pump can fail, which may cause stalling or a no start.

2021 F-150. The truck may not hold in Park, so it could roll away. Always use the parking brake until fixed.

2023 F-150. Rear axle hub bolts can loosen or break, which affects the rear wheel.

Sand gets into brakes, bearings and filters. A post desert check catches small problems before they grow.
Brakes and bearings
Sand gets between pads and discs and into wheel bearings. We clean it out and measure wear before it becomes a grinding noise.
Air filter
A filter full of sand costs power and fuel, and turbo engines feel it most. Cleaned or replaced after dusty trips.
Suspension
