Carbon build-up on the turbo engines
Changan's direct injection turbo engines are sensitive to fuel and oil quality. On the 1.5 turbo in the CS75 Plus, carbon on the intake valves and sticking piston rings have been reported from about 50,000 to 80,000 km.
It starts quietly: a slightly rough idle, a small misfire, a little oil used between services. Short trips and long idling in Dubai traffic speed it up.
Engine strip down
Stuck rings burn oil and lose compression. That means taking the engine apart, a far bigger bill.
How we check for it
- Read misfire counters. The engine computer logs small misfires long before a warning light comes on.
- Scope the intake valves. A camera through the intake shows exactly how much carbon there is.
- Compression and leak test. Tells us whether the rings are still sealing or have started to stick.
- Oil use check. We mark the level and measure it again, so you know the real consumption.
To slow it down: use the fuel grade your handbook asks for, change the oil on time with the right spec, avoid long idling with the AC on, and give the car a longer run on the highway now and then.

The smaller Changan faults we fix most
Most Changan problems are small comfort and wear items, not big failures. These are the ones owners mention most.
Tyre pressure warning
A common fault on many Chinese cars. It is usually a flat sensor battery, a damaged sensor or a sensor not registered after a tyre change.We test each sensor and replace only the faulty one.
Camera, stop start and screen
Rear camera faults, stop start that will not work and multimedia settings that reset. A weak battery or a software glitch is often behind it.We test the battery first, then the module.
Knock from the steering rack
Reported on some CS35 Plus cars from about 30,000 to 50,000 km, often after rough roads. Most cars are fine at 100,000 km.We check the rack, tie rods and mounts before quoting.
Worn bushes
Suspension usually lasts 60,000 to 80,000 km, but some bushes wear early on speed bumps and rough roads.We replace only the worn parts, then align the car.
Squeaking calipers
The pads and discs on these cars last well. A squeak usually means the calipers need cleaning and lubricating, not new parts.We service the calipers, so you do not pay for pads you do not need.
Radiator leaks
Reported on the CS75 Plus. In Dubai heat, even a small coolant leak can lead to overheating in summer traffic.We pressure test the system and fix the leak early.

Five things heat does to a Changan
Most Changan reviews come from cooler countries. Dubai is harder on the same parts, so these are the five we watch most closely from May to October.
Fluid runs hot
Stop and go traffic heats the gearbox fluid. On the Aisin 6 speed, an external cooler is a sensible upgrade.
Radiator and fans
A small leak or a slow fan shows up first in August traffic. We pressure test and check the fans.
Weak cooling
A dirty condenser, low gas or a tired cabin filter makes the AC struggle. We check pressures before adding gas.
Short battery life
Heat ages batteries fast, and a weak one causes many of the electrical faults above. A quick test avoids a breakdown.
Windscreen chips
Owners report the windscreen chips easily. Repair a chip early, before heat turns it into a crack.

CS range
The cars we see most. On the CS35 Plus we check the steering rack and, on later cars, the dual clutch gearbox. On the CS75 Plus, the 1.5 turbo for carbon, the Aisin gearbox for heat and the radiator for leaks. The larger CS85 and CS95 get cooling and suspension checks, and we confirm their gearbox by VIN.
UNI range
Newer, design led SUVs with turbo engines and lots of electronics. Many are still under warranty, so we check cover first. Out of cover, we look after servicing, gearbox fluid, electrics and AC.
Eado and Alsvin
Practical saloons, often used for daily commuting and high mileage. Servicing on time, AC, brakes and suspension bushes are the usual jobs.
City and electric
For small electric Changans we handle the 12V battery, tyres, brakes, suspension and AC. High voltage battery work stays with the dealer.

What gearbox does the Changan CS75 Plus have?
The 1.5 turbo CS75 Plus uses an Aisin 6 speed automatic, and the 2.0 turbo uses an Aisin 8 speed automatic. Both are known as durable, as long as the fluid is changed and the gearbox does not overheat.
Does the Changan CS35 Plus have a dual clutch gearbox?
Earlier CS35 Plus cars with the 1.6 engine use an Aisin 6 speed automatic. Later cars with the 1.4 turbo use a 7 speed wet dual clutch gearbox. We confirm yours by VIN.
Why is my Changan idling rough or using oil?
On the direct injection turbo engines, carbon on the intake valves and sticking piston rings have been reported from about 50,000 to 80,000 km. A misfire check and carbon clean caught early usually avoids an engine strip down.
Why does my Changan keep showing a tyre pressure warning?
The TPMS is a common fault. It is usually a sensor battery, a damaged sensor or a sensor not registered after a tyre change. We test each sensor and fix only the faulty one.
Does my Changan automatic gearbox need a fluid change?
Yes. Changan's Aisin automatics are durable, but old fluid and heat are their main enemies, and Dubai traffic is hard on both. Changing the fluid on time, and fitting a cooler on the 6 speed, protects the gearbox.

What fuel should I use in my Changan turbo?
Use the grade your handbook states. The direct injection turbo engines are sensitive to fuel and oil quality, and low grade fuel is linked to faster carbon build-up.
