Each Aston Martin generation has its own weak points. Older V8 Vantages wear clutches and Sportshift parts, V12 cars eat coil packs, and the newer AMG powered cars bring Mercedes electronics. Pick your model to see what we check first.
Vantage
- Misfire from coil packs after water gets into the coil area.
- Jerky low speed shifts from the ZF gearbox, often improved with software.
- Whine from the electronic differential on some cars.
- Infotainment freezes, Bluetooth and navigation lag on the Mercedes based system.
V8 Vantage
- Clutch wear, the biggest cost. City driving shortens it, and the torque tube must come out, about two days of work.
- Sportshift faults: random neutral, refusing a gear, adaptations not reset after updates.
- Timing cover oil leaks and a thermostat gasket that fails with age.
- Repeat flat batteries, often a loose positive stud under the bonnet.
DBX and DBX707
- Battery warning, stalling or no start: 2021 to 2024 cars had a recall for loosening battery fusebox nuts. Check it was done.
- Coil pack misfires, shared with other AMG V8 Astons.
- Infotainment and sensor glitches that need a proper scan, not a guess.
- Brakes and tyres wear fast on a heavy, powerful SUV.
DB11 and DB12
- Coil pack misfires on V8 cars, and ignition faults on the V12.
- COMAND infotainment freezes and screen faults on the DB11.

DB9 and DBS

A short history of Aston Martin
Aston Martin was founded in London in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. The name comes from Martin's success at the Aston Hill climb, and the famous DB cars carry the initials of David Brown, who owned the company from 1947. Today's V8 cars use an engine developed with Mercedes-AMG.

How often does an Aston Martin need servicing?
Current Vantage, DB11 and DBX models are serviced every 12 months or 16,000 km, whichever comes first. The Rapide uses 10,000 miles or 12 months. Cars that sit for long periods in Dubai still need the annual service, as fluids age even when the mileage is low.
Will an independent service affect my Aston Martin warranty?
Warranty repairs and recalls should go to the official dealer, where they are free. For servicing and repairs on cars out of warranty, an independent workshop is a normal choice. Check your own warranty terms before booking work on a car that is still covered.
Why does my Aston Martin keep getting a flat battery?
Astons draw a small current when parked, so a battery runs down if the car sits for weeks, especially in summer heat. Aston Martin advises keeping a conditioner connected. On older V8 Vantages a loose positive stud can also cause repeat failures. We test the battery and the drain before replacing anything.
What causes a misfire on an Aston Martin?
Ignition coil packs are the most common cause on V12 cars like the DB9, DBS and Vanquish, and on the AMG V8 in newer models, often after heat or water damage. A misfire is confirmed with a scan and coil test, so only the failed coils are replaced.
How much does a V8 Vantage clutch cost?
It is quoted per car, because the job needs the torque tube removed and usually takes around two days of labour. Clutch life varies a lot with use, and city driving shortens it. We check the clutch wear first so you know how much life is left before you commit.
Do you service the DB12 and DBX707?
Yes. Most DB12s are still under factory cover, so warranty work goes to the dealer, but we handle tyres, brakes, protection film, detailing and repairs outside the warranty. The DBX707 shares its AMG based V8 with other modern Astons and is serviced on the same 12 month or 16,000 km schedule.
How long does an Aston Martin service take?
A minor service is usually done within the day if you drop the car off in the morning. A major service, or a service with extra repairs found at inspection, can take one to two days. Clutch, gearbox and body work take longer, and we confirm the time with your quote.
Can you collect my Aston Martin from home?
Yes. We arrange pickup and return across Dubai, including Downtown, Palm Jumeirah, Emirates Hills, Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches. Tell us the location and whether the car drives normally, and we confirm the collection time and any charge before we come.
Do you repair carbon ceramic brakes?
Yes. We measure the discs and check the pads before recommending anything, because many carbon ceramic jobs only need new pads. If the discs are worn or damaged beyond their limit, we quote replacement discs and pads in writing so you can decide.
