Chery warning signs you should not ignore
Not every warning has the same urgency. Use these three levels to decide what to do next, and send us a photo of the dash if you are unsure.
- Flashing engine light or heavy power lossUsually a severe misfire that can damage the catalytic converter. Pull over and call us, and we arrange recovery.
- Temperature gauge in the red or steamDriving on can warp the cylinder head. Switch off, let it cool and call us for recovery and a pressure test.
- Brake warning with a soft pedalPoints to a fluid leak, possibly the chafed pipe in the Tiggo 8 recall. Stop driving and call us.
- Steady engine warning lightA stored fault, often a sensor, misfire or boost leak. Drive gently, and an early code read keeps the repair small.
- Gearbox warning, judder or flareOn a CVT or dual clutch this shows wear or fluid trouble starting. A check now costs far less than a gearbox.
- Oil level falling between servicesA turbo engine short of oil wears fast in heat. We find the leak or cause and top up to the right grade.
- AC weaker than it used to beA slow leak or dusty condenser gets worse each summer week. Early testing often avoids a new compressor.

Chery's published interval for the Tiggo 4 Pro is 12 months or 15,000 km. Dubai heat, sand and traffic wear some items sooner, so this is what we check at each visit.

Who is the official Chery dealer in the UAE?
AW Rostamani is the official distributor of Chery in the UAE. It opened a Chery showroom in Sharjah in March 2024 and one on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, in August 2024. Recalls, factory software updates and warranty repairs should go there first.
How much does a Chery service cost in Dubai?
A Chery scheduled service is quoted after inspection, because the price depends on the model, engine, mileage and parts. General Dubai figures for any car are AED 400 to 900 for an interim service and about AED 1,500 for a major service.
Does my Chery have a CVT or a dual clutch gearbox?
It depends on the engine. The 1.5 litre and 1.5T models, such as the Tiggo 2 Pro, Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro and Arrizo 5, use a CVT. The 1.6 TGDI and 2.0 TGDI models, such as the Tiggo 7 Pro Max, Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 9, use a 7 speed dual clutch.
Why does my Tiggo 8 Pro hesitate when pulling away?
A slow, then sudden pull away is a known trait of the 7 speed dual clutch on the 2.0 turbo Tiggo 8 Pro, noted in road tests, and it is worse in traffic. We read the gearbox codes and clutch adaptation values and check for software updates before quoting.
Why is my Tiggo 7 Pro using engine oil?
Owners of the Tiggo 7 Pro have reported oil consumption on the 1.5 turbo engine. We check for leaks, measure how much oil it uses over a set distance and inspect the PCV system and turbo seals. Under warranty, it goes to the dealer.
How often should a Chery be serviced?
Every 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first, as published for the Tiggo 4 Pro. Confirm the exact interval in your service booklet. In Dubai heat, also check the oil level between services, especially on turbo engines.
Has there been a recall on the Chery Tiggo 8?
Yes, a manufacturer recall. In June 2026 about 5,556 Tiggo 8 cars from 2023 to 2026 were recalled because a brake pipe may chafe against the engine. UAE campaigns can differ, so ask AW Rostamani to check your VIN. We check before any brake repair.
How long does a Chery repair take?
It depends on the job and on parts. Servicing, brakes, batteries and AC checks are usually short visits, while gearbox, engine and electrical faults need diagnosis first. We give you the expected time in writing with the quote, including any parts lead time.
Is it worth repairing an older Chery?
