The Infiniti QX80 5.6 V8, and what it needs
The QX80 shares its VK56 5.6 V8 and 7 speed automatic with the Y62 Nissan Patrol, one of the most common big SUVs in the UAE. That means good parts supply and well known weak spots.

Rattle on cold start. Earlier QX56 models were most affected. Chains, guides and tensioners are usually replaced together.

QX60, JX35, QX50, QX55
Infiniti CVT judder and slipping
Many Infinitis use a Jatco built CVT gearbox, the same family Nissan uses. On the 2013 and 2014 JX35 and QX60 it is known for judder and a rubber band feel between about 30 and 65 km/h.
Judder
A shaking feeling when pulling away gently, often worse when the gearbox is warm. It is the most common QX60 CVT complaint.
Revs, no drive
The engine revs but the car is slow to move, like a slipping rubber band. In bad cases it only clears after a restart.
Software first
Infiniti released gearbox software updates for this fault. We check the software level before talking about a rebuild.
Fluid condition
CVTs are sensitive to old fluid. We check its condition and temperature data, and change it with the correct Nissan fluid.

Q50 by year, at a glance
The Q50, a close relative of the Nissan Skyline, is one of the most common Infiniti saloons in Dubai. Its problems depend a lot on the model year.
