When dual clutch behaviour stops being normal
The H6 and Jolion use a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. A little jerkiness in stop and go traffic is normal for this type of gearbox. Slipping, grinding or a burning smell is not, and means the clutches are suffering.
Dubai traffic in summer is the hardest test a dual clutch can face: long creeping in heat, then a hard pull away. The difference between a fluid change and a clutch repair is usually how early the warning signs are noticed.

Dual clutch gearboxes, turbo engines and batteries all feel the heat. A few simple habits make the biggest difference.
Do
- Change gearbox fluid on time. Fresh fluid is the best protection for a dual clutch in hot traffic.
- Test the battery before summer. Heat shortens its life, and Havals are sensitive to weak batteries.
- Keep the AC clean. A fresh cabin filter and clean condenser help it cope with 45°C.
Avoid
- Creeping on the brake in long jams. Leave a small gap and roll forward with the traffic instead.
- Hard pull aways from hot standstills. Gentle throttle protects the clutches.
- Ignoring a burning smell. It is the clearest early sign of clutch stress.

The H6 uses a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox, and some jerkiness in stop and go traffic is typical of this gearbox type rather than a defect. Regular gearbox fluid changes keep it as smooth as possible.
When is Haval gearbox behaviour a real problem?
Slipping, grinding, a burning smell or a gearbox warning light are not normal. Stop driving it hard and have it checked, at the dealer if under warranty.
Why does my Haval brake pedal squeak?
On the H6 and H9, a squeak when pressing the pedal usually comes from the brake light switch spring or the pedal rod. It is not a safety issue, and lubrication or a new connecting rod fixes it.
Why does my Haval battery keep going flat?
Owners report batteries losing charge quickly, sometimes even after replacement. Weak charging and extra accessories such as trackers can drain it. We test the battery, charging and any drain.
Why is my Haval Jolion slow to respond?
The 1.5 turbo has some turbo lag, most noticeable on hills or pulling away. If it feels worse than before, we check for boost leaks and sensor faults.
