What we repair and service on your MG
Most MGs in Dubai are young, daily driven SUVs and sedans that do long hours in traffic. These twelve jobs cover nearly every MG that reaches our Al Quoz workshop, from gearbox faults to bodywork.
DCT and CVT repair
Judder, slipping or a gearbox warning. We read codes and clutch data and reset adaptations before anyone suggests a new gearbox.
Oil change and service
Oil and filter to the grade in your handbook, gearbox fluid checked by age, a full code scan and an itemised invoice.
AC repair and regas
Weak cooling at idle in summer traffic. We pressure test, find the leak and check fans and condenser before any regas.
Engine repair
Misfires, oil leaks or turbo boost faults on the 1.5 and 2.0 turbo engines. Tests and readings come before parts.
Coolant flush and cooling
A gauge that climbs in traffic. We pressure test hot, check fans and the radiator, then flush with the correct coolant.
Battery and charging
Flat battery after parking or slow starts. We load test the battery, check for drain and the charging output.
Brake repair
Pads, discs and fluid. We measure wear and quote genuine and aftermarket parts side by side so you can choose.
Suspension repair
Knocks over speed bumps or a loose feel. We check links, bushes, struts and ball joints on the lift.

Three gearbox types, three ways to fail
- CVT
- Continuously variable. A belt and pulleys instead of fixed gears. Smooth, but it dislikes old fluid and overheating, so fluid condition comes first.
- DCT
- Dual clutch. Two automated clutches preselect gears. Quick on the move, but low speed creeping in traffic wears and heats the clutches.
- AT
- Torque converter. A classic automatic, the most tolerant of traffic. Fluid age and shift adaptation matter most as it ages.

How much does an MG service cost in Dubai?
An MG oil change in Dubai costs about AED 300 to 500 as a guide, every 10,000 km, based on YallaMotor's MG ZS figures. Alba Cars puts a basic MG 7 service near AED 500 and larger services up to AED 1,000. We quote your MG in writing first.
Who is the official MG dealer in the UAE?
Inter Emirates Motors, part of Ali and Sons, has been the exclusive MG distributor in the UAE since 2021. In Dubai it has a showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road and service centres in Al Khabisi and Al Quoz. Warranty, recall and high voltage work belongs there.
Why does my MG HS jerk when pulling away?
Most petrol HS automatics use a dual clutch gearbox, and owners report jerky changes at low speed, especially pulling away. The usual fix is a software update and a clutch relearn, not a new gearbox. We read the clutch data and check the software level first.
Is it safe to drive my MG with a gearbox warning?
Not far. If the warning appears with a hot smell or limp mode in traffic, park, let the gearbox cool and call us. Driving on can overheat the clutches or CVT. We read the codes and temperature data, and arrange recovery if it will not drive.
What is the MG warranty in the UAE?
The MG UAE website lists 6 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first. Wear items such as brake pads, filters and tyres are not covered, and some parts have shorter cover. Check your own booklet with Inter Emirates Motors before paying for any fault repair.
Does my MG have a CVT or a dual clutch gearbox?
It depends on the model and engine. The MG5, MG One and 2025 ZS use a CVT. The 1.5 turbo HS, RX5, GT and MG 7 use a 7 speed dual clutch. The RX8, RX9 and 2.0 turbo MG 7 use conventional automatics. We confirm yours by VIN.
Why is my MG AC weak in Dubai traffic?
Weak AC at idle usually means a slow refrigerant leak, a condenser blocked with dust or a tired cooling fan. On the ZS EV, AC that turns warm after half an hour is linked to a blocked radiator pack. We pressure test and find the cause before any regas.
Is an older MG RX5 or RX8 worth fixing?
Usually yes, if the body and gearbox are sound. A 2020 RX5 was listed at AED 21,000 on dubizzle Dubai, so a large gearbox repair needs a careful decision. Our written quote shows the repair cost clearly, so you can compare it with the car's value.
Can you repair an MG ZS EV, MG4 or Cyberster?
We handle brakes, tyres, alignment, suspension, AC and the 12V battery on electric MGs, including the 12V battery that wears early on the ZS EV. Battery, charging and drive unit faults need dealer tools and software, so they go to Inter Emirates Motors.
How long does an MG repair take?
A service, battery or AC check is usually a short visit. Gearbox software and clutch relearns often finish the same day, while clutch packs, CVT repairs and parts that need ordering take longer. We give you the expected time and parts lead time in writing.
Can you inspect a used MG before I buy it?
