Bumper repair costs by the work needed

Compare one affected bumper, the parts being retained and the finish you want. A paint-only scuff is a different job from replacing a cover with damaged mounts and sensors.

WorkIndicative budget in AEDWork to check in your quote
Local scuff or scratch repair200 to 400One suitable area on one bumper, with preparation and local paint repair. Deep damage or several marked areas changes the work.
Repairable plastic damage with paint400 to 900One repairable cover, material repair and agreed refinishing. The vehicle maker’s repair restrictions still apply.
Complete bumper repaint450 to 800One cover, preparation, paint and finish. Compare removal, trim transfer and refitting in the fitted quote.
Replacement cover and paint750 to 3,600 or moreMainstream vehicle examples with a replacement cover, paint and fitting. Genuine premium parts and additional equipment can take the total higher.
Brackets, clips and sensor mountsQuote after inspectionThe damaged guide, clips or holder, access and refitting. A loose corner does not automatically need a new painted cover.

These are indicative Dubai market estimates, not fixed Mechanics tariffs. VAT treatment is not confirmed for these figures. Your written quote will state the parts, preparation, repair, painting, fitting, any applicable VAT and total. New sensors, calibration, adjacent-panel work and recovery are separate unless included.

Choose the suitable work

Keep the cover when a sound repair is possible

The visible mark is only part of the decision. The material, damage location, attachments and fitted electronics determine whether repairing the existing bumper is appropriate.

Scuff or surface scratch

Paint transfer or a shallow clear-coat mark may be suitable for cleaning and polishing. Exposed plastic, a deeper scratch or damaged paint usually needs preparation and refinishing.

A local paint repair can avoid repainting an otherwise sound cover. Widespread marks, a difficult color match or previous repairs may make a full repaint the better option.

Crack or plastic dent

A repairable cover may be reshaped or repaired with a suitable material process. Plastic welding, bonded repair and composite repair are different methods, chosen for the bumper material and approved repair instructions.

Damage near radar areas, critical mounts or badly stretched plastic can rule out a repair. We explain that restriction before you approve paint over a damaged surface.

Replacement cover or assembly

Replacement may be needed for extensive splitting, deformation, failed attachments or a repair that the vehicle maker does not permit. A new outer cover is not automatically the whole bumper assembly.

The quote identifies which grilles, trims, lamps, sensors and brackets can be transferred and which damaged parts need replacing. Hidden collision damage is assessed separately.

A separate side retainer and a tab molded into the cover need different repair decisions.
Loose corners and uneven gaps

Bumper bracket repair that restores the fit

A corner that pops out, a sagging edge or a rattle can come from a broken clip, side guide or mounting tab. Impact damage, a previous repair or an incorrectly fitted fastener can cause similar symptoms.

Clips and separate retainers
Check the fixing points and replace damaged fasteners or guides with the correct parts. Repeatedly pushing the bumper back into place can leave the failed attachment unresolved.
Tabs on the bumper cover
Inspect the remaining material and the permitted repair method. Some tabs can be repaired; others require a replacement cover. Filling a broken mounting area is not automatically an approved repair.
Sensor and lamp holders
A damaged holder can change fit or equipment position. The replacement must match the fitted component, with any required setup identified before approval.

Cover brackets and collision protection are different

A cover-retaining clip or side guide controls attachment and alignment. It does not replace the energy absorber, reinforcement bar or their supports behind the cover. Damage to those parts needs a separate collision assessment, even when the outside looks repairable.

Check behind the mark

What we check before quoting

We assess the visible damage first, then explain whether removal or further checks are needed to establish the complete repair.

  1. Surface and material

We check the cover material, paint condition and previous repairs, including whether the damage lies in an area with repair restrictions.

  2. Attachments and hidden damage

We check the side guides, tabs, fasteners and nearby trim. Following an impact, relevant supports and parts behind the cover also need assessment before the repair is priced.

  3. Equipment and agreed work

We identify affected sensor holders, wiring, lamps or washers where fitted. The quote separates paintwork, replacement parts and any manufacturer-required electronic checks.

For damage extending to other panels or collision components, our car body shop in Dubai provides the broader assessment.

Removing the cover can reveal damage that a photo of the outside cannot show.

Preparation and a suitable paint process matter as much as the visible color.
Preparation and refinishing

A paint finish matched to the repair

Paint is applied after the damage and fit have been addressed. A repaint should not hide a crack, a loose mounting point or a restricted sensor area.

Match the existing finish
The paint code, color variant and condition of adjacent panels guide the match. Metallic and pearl finishes, fading or an earlier repaint may require a spray-out comparison and a different blending plan.
Prepare the correct surface
Cleaning, repair preparation, compatible primers and the selected paint system are matched to the material. Sensor faces and equipment are protected or removed as required.
Allow the finish to cure
Paint preparation and curing affect collection time. Ask when washing, pressure washing, polishing or protective film is suitable for the paint system used.
Vehicle equipment matters

Sensor checks are part of the repair decision

A bumper can carry parking sensors or sit in front of radar units. The permitted repair and paint process depends on the vehicle and damage location, not simply the size of the scratch.

Parking sensors and holders

We check the sensor faces, retaining rings, holders, connectors and wiring that may have been affected. The correct holder and installed position matter when the bumper is refitted.

Removal and refinishing follow the vehicle maker’s rules. Painting a sensor face is not universally permitted. Damaged equipment is identified separately from the cover repair.

Radar and driver assistance

Manufacturers can restrict welding, filler, reshaping or additional paint in radar transmission areas. A small-looking crack may therefore require replacement rather than a cosmetic repair.

Any required scan, calibration or other setup must follow the relevant repair procedure and appear in the agreed scope. A warning light going out does not replace a required calibration.

Report warnings after an impact

Tell us about parking-assist, blind-spot or other driver-assistance warnings before the repair. Do not assume the system is working normally because the cover has been clipped back into place.

Parts and compatibility

Replacement parts matched to your bumper

Your model and a short description of the damage are enough to start. We may request the VIN or fitted part number later to match the bumper version, trim and equipment.

Genuine replacement

A vehicle-maker part is one option for matching the specified cover and equipment. The quote should identify whether it is supplied bare, primed or finished, and which fittings are separate.

Compatible alternative

A suitable alternative may change the price, but appearance alone does not establish compatibility. Fit, mounting points, sensor requirements and applicable manufacturer restrictions must be checked before ordering.

Used part where suitable

If a used component is proposed, its condition, previous repairs and compatibility need assessment. Paint or hidden damage can add work. The quotation should state its condition and the applicable supplier or repair warranty.

We assess front and rear bumpers on family cars, luxury cars and SUVs without treating every model as the same assembly. For brand-specific work, see our Audi bumper repair service.

Visit and collection

Know the work and the collection plan

A small cosmetic repair may fit into a workshop day when the condition and schedule allow. Repainting needs preparation and curing, while hidden damage, ordered parts or sensor procedures can extend the visit.

The written quote should explain the proposed work and expected completion time. If removal reveals additional damage, that work is discussed before it is added.

At collection, review the bumper fit, the finish and any affected equipment checks. Keep the invoice and the written paintwork, parts and labor warranty terms for this specific job.

For a hanging bumper, tire contact or a part likely to detach, stop safely and discuss recovery or pickup arrangements and any charge before transport.

Bumper repair questions answered

Compare the finish, attachments, equipment and complete fitted work. Share the model and the damage when contacting Mechanics in Al Quoz.

How much does bumper repair cost in Dubai?

Indicative Dubai estimates are AED 200 to AED 400 for a suitable local scuff repair, AED 400 to AED 900 for repairable plastic damage with paint, and AED 450 to AED 800 for a full bumper repaint. Mainstream replacement examples range from AED 750 to AED 3,600 or more. These are market examples, not fixed Mechanics tariffs. Their VAT treatment is not confirmed. The quote will show the fitted work, parts, any applicable VAT and total.

Can a cracked bumper be repaired?

Sometimes. The decision depends on the material, crack location, surrounding damage, mounting points and manufacturer instructions. A crack beside a radar transmission area can rule out a repair that would be acceptable elsewhere. We inspect the bumper before recommending a material repair or a replacement cover.

Can you fix a loose bumper without replacing the whole cover?

A broken clip or separate side guide may be replaceable while the cover stays. If the cover’s own mounting tabs are torn, tab repair is considered only where the manufacturer permits it and a reliable attachment can be restored. A bent support or damaged sensor mount needs its own assessment. Gluing the corner down is not a substitute for finding the fault.

Will bumper bracket repair need painting?

Replacing a separate hidden retainer or clip does not automatically require a repaint. Painting may be needed if the cover has damaged paint, a crack or a repaired surface. The quote should distinguish attachment work from refinishing so you can see what you are paying for.

Do all bumper brackets need replacing together?

No automatic front-and-rear replacement is proposed. The affected attachments and nearby components are checked, and the quote identifies the damaged parts. Matching parts may be needed when their condition or vehicle repair instructions require it, rather than simply because one clip has failed.

Can you match metallic, pearl or previously repainted paint?

The paint code is a starting point. The existing finish, previous repairs and the color variant also matter. A spray-out comparison helps assess the match before refinishing. Ask whether the proposed job is a local paint repair, a full bumper repaint or includes blending onto another panel. No universal invisible-match guarantee is stated.

What happens to parking sensors during bumper repair?

Sensor faces, holders, wiring and fitment need protection and checks. Removal, paint treatment and refitting follow the requirements for the fitted system. Some manufacturers prohibit refinishing the sensor itself. A damaged holder or sensor is quoted separately, with any required setup or calibration explained.

Can you use paintless dent repair on a plastic bumper?

Plastic bumper reshaping is different from conventional paintless dent repair on a metal body panel. The material, crease, access and paint condition determine whether reshaping without repainting is suitable. A badly stretched cover, a damaged mounting area or a restricted sensor zone may require a different approach.

Can I drive with a loose or hanging bumper?

If it is hanging, rubbing a tire, dragging, likely to detach or obstructing a lamp, stop safely and arrange assistance. Do not rely on tape or cable ties for driving. A surface scuff on an otherwise secure cover is a different situation. Describe any looseness or warning message when arranging the inspection.

How long will the work take?

A small cosmetic job may fit into a workshop day when the condition and schedule allow. Plastic repair and repainting need preparation and curing, while replacement parts or sensor procedures can extend the visit. We confirm the expected collection time after assessment rather than promising same-day completion for every bumper.

What warranty applies to bumper paint or replacement parts?

Ask for the written terms for the exact paintwork, repair and supplied parts before approval. Check the coverage period, what is included and how a repeat issue is handled. Paintwork, a replacement sensor and a used component can have different terms. No blanket warranty duration is promised here.

Can I request an estimate from photos?

Yes. Start with the car model and whether the front or rear bumper is affected. Clear photos are helpful but optional. An initial estimate may change after the hidden mounts, the inside of the cover or the sensor equipment is inspected. You receive the proposed work and price before approving the repair.

Should I contact my insurer before an accident repair?

If you intend to claim, contact your insurer before authorizing repairs. Ask which accident report, inspection, workshop approval and excess apply to your claim. Tell Mechanics that you are considering an insurance repair before work starts. Coverage and payment depend on your policy and insurer’s decision.
