What does a replacement battery cost?

These published Dubai planning prices cover a battery and normal fitting. Mechanics confirms its own vehicle-specific quote. Specialist access, registration, repairs and travel can change the total.

Battery and workIndicative fitted budget including 5% VATWhat to compare
Conventional starter batteryAED 250–450A compatible lead-acid unit and straightforward fitting for a suitable vehicle without start-stop requirements.
EFB start-stop batteryAED 450–700An enhanced flooded battery matching an approved EFB application. Registration requirements depend on the car.
AGM start-stop batteryAED 650–1,200An absorbent glass mat battery for a compatible AGM application. Capacity and access can move the total outside this range.
Auxiliary or specialist low-voltage batteryVehicle-specific quoteIdentify the actual unit, voltage and chemistry before pricing. This does not include a high-voltage traction pack.

Ask for the battery make, product code, capacity, fitting, testing, warranty and tax in one written total. Registration, difficult access, damaged cables or clamps, extra diagnosis, travel and old-battery handling must be stated where applicable. A low price for the wrong battery is not a useful comparison.

Get the right battery priced for your car

Send the make, model, year and engine details. A clear photo of the existing battery label helps confirm the technology, capacity and terminal arrangement.

Match the vehicle requirements

Choose the right battery technology

A bigger number or a premium label does not automatically make a battery suitable. Use the manufacturer requirement and the actual fitted equipment.

Conventional lead-acid

For an approved standard application

A conventional starter battery can be a sound choice where the car does not require EFB or AGM. Match the case dimensions, mounting and specified electrical performance.

  • Confirm the required amp-hour capacity and cranking rating
  • Check terminal position, cable reach and any vent connection
  • Do not choose it as a cheaper start-stop substitute

EFB

For compatible start-stop systems

An enhanced flooded battery is designed for the repeated demand of suitable start-stop applications. Replacement EFB or an approved AGM upgrade must suit the car’s charging strategy.

  • Identify the original technology rather than guessing from the badge
  • Confirm that any upgrade is supported
  • Retain the appropriate capacity and fitment

AGM

For a specified AGM application

Absorbent glass mat batteries support demanding electrical and start-stop systems. A vehicle requiring AGM should not be downgraded to EFB or a conventional flooded battery.

  • Check the exact product code and physical size
  • Confirm whether battery registration is required
  • Compare fitted totals and written warranty terms
A no-start needs a useful answer

Replace, recharge or check another fault?

A flat battery and a worn-out battery are different findings. Clicking, dim lights or a warning can also involve connections, the starter or charging system.

Battery condition and performanceCheck the case, terminals, state of charge and starting performance with a suitable test. A resting voltage reading on its own does not establish remaining capacity or reliable cranking. Ask for the test result and an explanation of whether the battery needs charging and retesting or replacement. Where the tester reports cranking performance, compare it with the battery’s rated specification and the vehicle requirement. Charge level and battery health are different findings.
Charging and connectionsCheck the charging system and cable connections when the symptoms call for it. If charging is inadequate, replacing the battery alone leaves the cause unresolved. Our alternator repair service covers that separate work.
Repeated discharge while parkedA battery that goes flat again may need controlled drain testing. Report aftermarket equipment, recent electrical work and how long the car was parked. Do not assume that every recurring flat battery has failed.
Visible damage or corrosionA swollen, cracked, leaking or unusually hot battery needs safe assessment. Corroded connections may need attention without automatically requiring a new battery. Our battery terminal guide explains the connection issue.

If the battery is damaged, leaking, very hot or smells unusual, avoid charging or jump-start attempts and arrange professional help. If a charging warning appears while driving, stop safely and follow the handbook rather than assuming a battery swap will solve it.

What the replacement work needs to include

Before approving installation, agree the specification and the complete work. Accessible batteries and units hidden under trim or seats need different handling.

Confirm the applicationMatch voltage, technology, capacity, cranking performance, dimensions, terminal layout, hold-down and venting where required. The current battery label is useful evidence, but the vehicle specification remains the reference.
Fit securely and inspect connectionsFollow the manufacturer’s isolation and installation procedure. Check the cables and clamps, secure the battery in the correct tray and reconnect any required vent. Loose mounting and damaged connections need their own correction.
Register or initialise where requiredSome cars need diagnostic registration or battery-management adaptation. Others learn the new battery or use a different procedure. Registration and coding are not universal add-ons for every vehicle.
Verify the resultCheck starting and relevant charging behaviour, then address necessary settings or fault follow-up. Clearing a warning is not proof that the underlying problem has been repaired.

DIY change or workshop fitting?

Replacing an accessible battery can be manageable on some older vehicles when the owner has the right tools, knowledge and exact procedure. Modern fitment and energy-management requirements make a simple swap less predictable.

Professional fitting is useful when the battery is hard to reach, the specification is uncertain, the car has a required registration procedure or there are repeated no-start problems. It combines correct selection with a check of why the original battery stopped working.

Ask what the installation charge includes. Basic replacement, damaged-terminal repair and extended electrical diagnosis are different jobs. A saved fitting fee can disappear if a wrong battery is ordered or the underlying charging fault remains.

Warranty cover depends on the applicable terms and any damage caused by incorrect work. Check the battery and vehicle conditions before disconnecting anything.

Keep the two battery jobs separate

Hybrid and EV battery enquiries

A hybrid or electric vehicle may fail to wake up because of its low-voltage supply even when the main traction pack is charged. That does not make the two batteries interchangeable.

Low-voltage and auxiliary units

These support control units, locks and other equipment. The fitted chemistry, voltage, mounting and commissioning requirements vary. Some vehicles have more than one auxiliary unit. Share the exact dashboard message and model year so the relevant battery is identified before a quote.

High-voltage traction batteries

Propulsion battery work is a separate service with a different diagnosis, equipment and cost. For that enquiry, our hybrid battery replacement page is the appropriate starting point. Do not apply the starter-battery price table to a traction pack.

Know the price and conditions before fitting

Arrange your battery replacement

Call Mechanics in Al Quoz, Dubai with your vehicle details and whether it can be driven. Mention the warning, recent jump starts and any battery or charging work already completed.

Confirm the exact battery

Ask for the make and product code on the quote. Bosch, ACDelco, Exide and other battery labels cover different products and technologies. Brand name alone is not a substitute for matching the vehicle. Confirm current availability before arranging a visit.

Check the warranty

Get the actual coverage for the chosen battery, its start date and the claim procedure in writing. Time or mileage limits, exclusions and any labour or travel cover can differ. Keep the invoice and fitment details for later support.

Plan access and collection

Tell us if the car is in a basement, behind a gate or unable to move. Confirm available assistance, access and any charge. Ask how the removed battery will be handled and whether an exchange allowance affects the total.

How much does car battery replacement cost in Dubai?

Published Dubai fitted planning budgets including 5% VAT are AED 250–450 for a conventional starter battery, AED 450–700 for EFB and AED 650–1,200 for AGM. Mechanics confirms its own vehicle-specific quote. Capacity, fitment and battery brand affect the quote. Confirm testing, fitting, any registration, old-battery handling and call-out charges in the written total.

Does a flat battery always need replacement?

No. A discharged but serviceable battery may recover after appropriate charging and retesting. A battery that cannot meet the required performance, has physical damage or repeatedly fails after the underlying cause is corrected may need replacement. A successful jump start does not prove that the battery or charging system is healthy.

Can I use a normal battery instead of AGM or EFB?

Use the technology and specification required for your exact vehicle. Do not downgrade an AGM application to EFB or a conventional flooded battery. An EFB-to-AGM upgrade may be suitable when the vehicle supports it, but it is not an automatic choice. Match dimensions, terminal layout, mounting, capacity and starting performance as well as chemistry.

Does my replacement battery need registration or coding?

Some vehicles need the new battery registered with their battery management system. Others use a learning procedure or require no diagnostic registration. The method depends on the vehicle and whether its battery specification changes. Confirm the manufacturer procedure and whether the quoted work includes it.

Can Mechanics replace a battery at my location?

Call with your car details, location and parking access to check available assistance and the charge. Mechanics offers workshop service in Al Quoz and pickup across Dubai. An immediate roadside visit, a fixed arrival time and free mobile fitting are not promised on this page. If the car is in an unsafe place, arrange suitable recovery.

Is an EV or hybrid auxiliary battery the same as its main battery?

No. The low-voltage battery supports control units and other electrical systems. The high-voltage traction battery supplies the drive system and needs a separate assessment. Low-voltage chemistry and even voltage can vary between vehicles. Share the exact model, year and warning rather than ordering a generic 12V battery.

How long does battery replacement take?

An accessible compatible starter battery can often be fitted within a workshop visit once the specification and stock are confirmed. Hidden battery locations, required registration, damaged terminals or additional electrical diagnosis add time. Ask Mechanics for the expected completion for your vehicle rather than relying on a universal 30-minute promise.

How do Dubai heat and short trips affect battery life?

Heat can accelerate ageing in a starter battery. Frequent short trips or long periods parked can also leave it undercharged. Battery technology, charging condition and use all affect service life, so a fixed replacement age is not a reliable rule for every car. Arrange a condition test if starting becomes slower or before extended parking. Ask about a compatible charger or maintainer and follow the vehicle handbook rather than disconnecting the battery or relying on a short drive to restore a deeply discharged unit.

What warranty will I receive on the new battery?

Ask for the chosen battery’s written warranty, start date, time or mileage limit, exclusions and claim procedure before approval. Confirm whether labour or a call-out is included if a claim is accepted. Keep the invoice and battery details. No single warranty period is promised for every battery on this page.
