Car Key Fob Repair in Dubai

Buttons failing, a cracked case or a key the car will not recognise? Mechanics checks the fob and the vehicle before recommending repair or replacement. Dubai planning prices for a supplied and programmed transponder spare start around AED 250 per key, including VAT. Smart and premium keys cost more. Tell us your model and whether another key works.

Spare key and programming prices by brand

Use these VAT-inclusive Dubai starting benchmarks to plan a compatible spare. They describe key packages that include programming, rather than an extra coding charge. They are indicative market prices, not confirmed Mechanics tariffs.

Brand examplesPer-key Dubai starting benchmark including VATKey type and included work
Toyota, Nissan and HondaTransponder from AED 250
Smart key from AED 600
One compatible supplied key and registration to the vehicle. The correct key system matters more than the badge. These are system-based benchmarks, not separate brand tariffs.
Hyundai, Kia, Ford and ChevroletTransponder from AED 250
Smart key from AED 600
One compatible supplied key with programming for supported conventional systems. Blade cutting and remote functions must be listed in the quote.
BMWStandard spare from AED 450
Comfort Access spare from AED 650
A published Dubai spare-key programming benchmark. Confirm the included fob, blade and exact key generation in your vehicle-specific quote.
Mercedes-Benz and AudiPremium programmed key from AED 800A published Dubai luxury-key benchmark including programming. Newer security systems, genuine keys and manufacturer orders may cost considerably more.
Lexus, Infiniti, Volkswagen and Land RoverVehicle-specific quoteThe year, key system and supply route must be identified before a useful price can be given. A compatible-looking remote is not enough.

Repairing the key you already have

Battery, case, button and circuit-board repairs are priced after the fault is checked. A BMW remote re-sync has a published Dubai benchmark from AED 200 including VAT, but it is not a universal fob-repair price. A new battery or case does not automatically require programming.

What your quote should include

Agree one key, its supplied parts, programming labour, blade cutting if required, testing and VAT. The prices above are starting references for a spare, with a working key available. All keys lost, genuine manufacturer keys, transport and vehicle-side repairs need separate pricing. Do not add a programming charge twice to a package that already includes it.

Get the right price for your key

Share the make, model, year, key style and number of working keys. We can discuss the suitable work before you buy a replacement.

Choose suitable work

Repair the fob or replace the key?

Choose according to what has failed. A damaged shell, failed electronics and a missing key need different solutions.

Battery, case or buttons

Keep usable original electronics

A weak coin cell, broken casing or worn button can make a serviceable key difficult to use. Check battery specification and contacts before replacing a complete remote.

A case transfer must retain the correct electronics and any separate transponder. A new shell alone does not add a spare key or change the vehicle’s security registration.

Electronic repair

Check whether repair is reliable

Loose switches, damaged contacts and some board faults may be repairable. The findings determine whether a repair is worthwhile compared with a compatible replacement.

Severe liquid damage, missing components or a damaged security chip can rule repair out. Ask what can be tested and what warranty applies to the agreed work.

Replacement or spare

Supply the correct key and register it

A lost key or one with irreparable electronics may need a compatible replacement. A spare is easier to plan while a working key is still available.

The key must match the vehicle’s system and regional specification. Confirm the supplied key, required programming, emergency blade and functions rather than choosing by casing appearance.

Find the cause

What the symptom can tell us

One key fails but the spare worksThis points towards a problem with that key. Tell us which buttons or start functions fail and whether the key was dropped, opened or exposed to liquid.
Remote buttons fail but the car startsLocking communication and start authorisation are different functions. Check the remote battery, contacts and buttons before assuming the entire key needs replacement.
Neither key works or the car will not startThe vehicle battery, receiver, antenna or another vehicle fault may be involved. A “key not detected” message alone does not confirm that programming is required.
The key is physically stuckA blade or ignition-lock fault needs its own assessment. Do not force it. Discuss ignition switch and lock diagnosis if the fault is mechanical.

Report the exact dashboard message and try a known working spare if you have one. Avoid repeated random pairing procedures or buying an unverified online fob. Follow your own vehicle handbook for any emergency access or backup starting method.

Buy the correct part

A matching case is only the beginning

Genuine manufacturer keys and suitable aftermarket keys can have different prices, availability and features. Check the exact part number, key generation, frequency and regional application. A used key may already be locked to another vehicle and may not be suitable for reuse.

If you want to bring your own fob, send its specification before purchasing it. We need to discuss whether it can be registered, which functions are supported and whether coding is available for your model. Keyless entry, push-button start, boot release and remote start should be checked individually where fitted.

A mechanical blade, immobiliser transponder and remote locking can need different work. The car key programming page explains registering a compatible key and the checks required before coding. A repair that preserves the original registered electronics may avoid that extra work.

Plan before the last key fails

Make a spare while you have a working key

Tell us how many keys currently unlock and start the vehicle. Creating a second compatible key can be simpler than recovering access after the only key is lost. It also gives you a useful comparison if a future remote fault appears.

If every key is lost or one has been stolen, call with the car details and location first. The available recovery or manufacturer route, ownership checks, ordered parts and transport affect the price and timing. Do not assume a spare-key starting price covers an all-keys-lost job.

Ask whether a missing key can be removed from the electronic authorised-key list for your system. Electronic deactivation does not necessarily stop its mechanical blade opening a lock. Discuss that separate risk if the lost key could identify the vehicle.

After work, test the new key and every retained key with the vehicle. Keep a spare separately and protect fobs from liquid and impacts. Avoid leaving the only working key inside the car.

Key fob repair questions

Clear answers about compatibility, cost and the work to agree.

How much is a spare car key in Dubai?

VAT-inclusive Dubai starting benchmarks are about AED 250 for a supplied transponder key with programming, AED 600 for a smart key package and AED 800 for a premium programmed key. BMW spare programming benchmarks start at AED 450 for a standard key and AED 650 for Comfort Access. These are market references, not confirmed Mechanics tariffs. The vehicle-specific quote confirms the key, blade, labour and VAT.

Does a new key battery mean I need programming?

Not automatically. A battery replacement does not normally remove a registered key’s identity. Check the correct battery, orientation and contacts first. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your exact key. A new replacement key or a confirmed registration problem is a different job.

Can a water-damaged key fob be repaired?

Sometimes, depending on corrosion and which components are damaged. Avoid pressing the buttons or repeatedly powering a wet fob. Bring the key for assessment. Severe board or security-chip damage may need replacement, and a working remote is not proof that every start function is reliable.

Can you program a fob I bought online?

Send the part number, vehicle details and key specification before buying it or arranging programming. Appearance alone does not prove compatibility. Used or previously registered fobs may not be reusable. We confirm whether the exact vehicle and fob are supported before quoting.

What if I have lost every key?

Call before travelling with the make, model, year, vehicle location and ownership documents available. All-keys-lost work may need a different procedure, ordered genuine parts or manufacturer support. The spare-key prices on this page do not include that recovery job.

What warranty will my key repair have?

Ask for the terms for the specific repair or supplied key, including covered parts and labour, duration, exclusions and how to claim. Battery replacement, board repair and a new key may have different conditions. Keep the invoice and confirmed written terms.
