How much does car servicing cost?

Use these estimates to plan and compare written quotes. They are Dubai market budgets, not a fixed Mechanics price list. A smaller petrol car and a high-capacity luxury engine can need different oil quantities, filters and labour.

ServicePlanning budgetWhat to confirm in your quote
Minor serviceAED 350–900 including 5% VATCorrect-specification engine oil, oil filter, routine labour and agreed inspection checks. Oil capacity and filter specification affect the total.
Major serviceAED 900–2,500 including 5% VATRoutine servicing plus the scheduled filters, plugs or fluids actually due on your vehicle. The quote must identify each replacement. Not every major service includes all of them.
Overdue or specialist servicingVehicle-specific written quoteHigh-capacity or specialist engines, additional scheduled work and faults found during inspection may fall outside these ranges. Repairs are priced separately.

Choose the right work

Minor service or major service?

A minor service covers routine maintenance. A major service adds the maintenance items due at a particular age or mileage. The car’s schedule decides the work, so the package name alone is not enough to compare value.

Minor service

For a routine service visit

Usually suitable when oil servicing is due and there are no additional scheduled replacements. Tell us about warning lights, noises or leaks before booking so they can be assessed separately.

  • Engine oil and oil filter to the approved specification
  • Agreed checks of brakes, tyres, battery, lights and wipers
  • Fluid level and visible leak checks
  • Air filter condition check and service reminder review

Major service

When additional maintenance is due

Start with the routine service, then add the items required by the vehicle schedule and condition. Request an itemised list of work rather than assuming every filter, belt and fluid is replaced.

  • Routine oil servicing and inspection checks
  • Air and cabin filters when due or no longer serviceable
  • Spark plugs when required on petrol engines
  • Specified fluids or other scheduled items when due and included in the quote

A brake inspection does not include new pads. A transmission check does not include a fluid change. Timing belts, batteries, AC repairs and fault diagnosis are separate unless your written quote includes them.

Start with the reason for your visit

Servicing, diagnosis or a specific repair?

These visits solve different problems. Knowing which one you need makes the enquiry more useful and keeps a routine service quote separate from the cost of fixing a fault.

Maintenance is due

Choose servicing when the time or mileage limit has arrived, the service reminder is due, or scheduled items need renewing. Share your last invoice so the quote can account for work already completed. A car that drives normally can still have maintenance due.

Start with the minor and major comparison above. The right scope may be a routine oil service with one additional scheduled item, rather than a package containing every possible replacement.

Something has changed

A warning message, intermittent starting issue, unusual noise, leak or reduced performance needs an assessment. Note whether it happens with a cold engine, after warming up, under braking or at a particular speed. Ask what the initial diagnostic fee covers and whether further testing needs separate approval.

A fault code points to a system or condition. It does not, by itself, prove that a named component should be replaced. Use the fault-check routes in the directory below.

The required job is known

If an inspection has already identified a worn component or damaged panel, select that service and share the findings. A parts quotation needs the correct vehicle variant and should state whether labour, associated materials and any setup or calibration are included.

For cosmetic work, send clear photos of the damaged area. For a mechanical recommendation, share the inspection report and any measurements rather than only a part name.

If the car may be unsafe to drive

Do not use a routine service appointment as a reason to continue driving with an oil-pressure warning, overheating, materially reduced braking or a strong fuel smell. Stop somewhere safe and arrange assistance. Tell Mechanics about the symptoms before moving the vehicle to the workshop.

Find the service your car needs

Routine servicing is one part of looking after a car. Browse all 69 main service pages below for a specific fault, replacement, body repair or care service. Each page explains that job in more detail.

Mileage, time and conditions

When should you service your car?

Follow the mileage or time limit in the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, whichever comes first. Some cars use a fixed interval. Others calculate the next visit through an onboard service indicator. There is no single minor or major interval that fits every brand and engine.

Dubai heat, dusty conditions, repeated short trips and long periods of idling can affect maintenance needs. Check whether your owner’s manual specifies a severe-use schedule for your driving conditions rather than automatically shortening every interval.

If the last service date is unknown, send the registration details, mileage and any invoices you have. We can discuss what needs checking before you approve a catch-up service. A dashboard reminder reset should follow the appropriate completed work.

For a used car with unclear history, a vehicle inspection can help identify condition concerns. An inspection cannot prove that undocumented past maintenance was completed.

Agree the inspection scope

What should your service check?

Compare the checks included in your quote. An inspection and a replacement are separate jobs, so agree both before work starts.

Engine and scheduled maintenance

Oil and filtrationConfirm the oil approval, viscosity, quantity and filter. Check the engine air filter against its schedule and condition. Persistent leaks or engine symptoms need a separate assessment.
Cooling system and fluidsAgree accessible fluid-level, hose and visible-leak checks. Coolant loss may need testing. Coolant and brake-fluid replacements follow the vehicle requirements and quoted work.
Items due by age or mileageReview plugs, belts and specified fluids against the service records. Confirm what is due now, what has already been completed and what to plan for next.

Safety and cabin comfort

Brakes and tyresAsk for the included condition and wear checks. Uneven tyre wear can need further assessment. New pads, discs, tyres and alignment require their own agreed scope.
Battery, lights and wipersConfirm whether battery testing or only a visual check is included. Review lights, washers and wipers. Starting faults can involve the battery, charging system or wiring.
Cabin filter and AC operationReport weak cooling, odours or fan noise. Check the cabin filter when due. Filter replacement, refrigerant work and AC leak diagnosis are different jobs.
Petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric?

Confirm your powertrain and workshop capability. Fully electric vehicles have no engine-oil service. Hybrids and diesel cars need their own manufacturer-based maintenance.

Compare what is included

What changes your service quote?

A useful quote tells you what will be fitted and why it is due. These are the details to confirm before choosing a package.

Engine and oil specification

Make, model, year and engine determine oil capacity and the required manufacturer approval. A matching viscosity alone may not establish that the oil is suitable. Extra litres and specialist filters can change the budget.

Parts and scheduled replacements

Ask which filters, plugs and fluids are included, their specifications and the parts route being quoted. Genuine, OEM-equivalent and aftermarket options can have different prices. Availability must be confirmed for your car.

Condition and additional repairs

A worn tyre, coolant leak or brake fault needs its own assessment. Servicing does not automatically fix a warning light. Ask for findings and a separate repair price, then decide what to approve.

Send your make, model, year, engine, mileage and last service details.Request an itemised quote
Used cars and overdue maintenance

Build a service plan from the records you have

Bring the most recent invoices, service-book entries and any inspection report. A stamp confirms a recorded visit but may not explain the oil specification or every item replaced. Detailed invoices help avoid repeating work and identify maintenance that still needs attention.

If the history is incomplete, request a staged plan. Start with a condition assessment and the maintenance that can be identified from the vehicle schedule. Ask which recommendations follow the schedule and which follow an observed finding. Unknown history is a reason to investigate, not proof that every part needs changing.

For an overdue visit, share how far past the mileage or time limit the car is and describe any symptoms. A later service cannot reverse damage that may already have occurred, so report unusual noise, oil loss or overheating before agreeing the scope.

From booking to handover

A service visit with clear next steps

Share the car and its historyCall or message with the car details, current mileage, last service and any symptoms. Confirm the appointment, expected duration and any pickup arrangements before relying on them.
Agree the work and priceReview the scheduled maintenance and the written quote. Confirm which inspections and replacements are included. Ask about any job-specific parts or labour warranty and have the applicable terms stated on the invoice.
Review the completed serviceAt handover, ask for the invoice, maintenance findings and next service recommendation. Keep the oil specification and fitted parts details with your records. Manufacturer digital service-history access depends on the vehicle and must be confirmed.

Keep the next visit predictable

What to take away after your service

A useful handover explains the completed maintenance, any outstanding findings and the next due date or mileage. Keep those details together so the next servicing decision starts with a clear record.

An itemised invoice

Check the recorded mileage, oil specification, supplied parts, labour and VAT. Confirm that the invoice reflects the work you approved. Ask for the applicable warranty terms for the specific work rather than assuming one promise covers every component.

A prioritised list of findings

Ask which findings need prompt attention, which maintenance items will become due next and which can be monitored. Keep the supporting explanation or measurements where available. Cosmetic recommendations and safety-related repairs should be easy to distinguish.

The next service requirement

Record the next time or mileage limit and any separate scheduled items. If a new warning, leak or unusual noise appears after collection, contact the workshop and describe it. A completed routine service does not replace assessment of a new symptom.

Before you book

Car servicing questions

Quick answers about price, included work and maintenance. Your vehicle schedule and written quote remain the basis for the work.

How much is a minor car service in Dubai?

A typical planning budget is AED 350–900 including 5% VAT for routine oil and filter servicing with agreed checks. This is an estimated Dubai range. Your Mechanics quote depends on the car, oil quantity, specification and included work.

What is included in a major car service?

A major service normally adds scheduled maintenance to routine oil servicing. Filters, spark plugs and fluids are included only when due and listed in the quote. Timing belts, brake parts and transmission work should not be assumed to be included.

Should I book a minor or major service?

Check the manufacturer schedule, service reminder and previous invoices. Choose routine servicing if that is all that is due. When additional age-based or mileage-based items are due, request a quote for those items rather than choosing by package name.

How long will the service take?

Duration depends on the booked work, parts availability and any findings. Confirm an expected handover time when booking. A routine oil service needs less work than a visit that includes plugs, filters, fluids or additional diagnosis.

Does servicing fix a warning light or a leak?

Not automatically. Tell us about the symptom before the visit so diagnosis can be discussed. Maintenance addresses scheduled work. A fault may need testing and a separately approved repair. Do not keep driving an overheating car or one showing an oil-pressure warning.

Can an electric or hybrid car use these packages?

A fully electric vehicle does not need engine oil or spark plugs. Hybrids have model-specific engine and electrical maintenance requirements. Ask for the manufacturer-based maintenance and confirm workshop capability for the exact vehicle before booking.

Will independent servicing affect my warranty?

Check your vehicle warranty terms and service requirements before booking. Ask about approved specifications, documentation and any required service-history entry. Do not assume every independent service will meet the terms of every manufacturer warranty.

Does this directory include all main services?

Yes. All 69 main service pages are linked in the six categories above. Choose the relevant service to explore the work in more detail and find related specialist or brand-specific services.

Can I book only the work my car needs?

Ask for an itemised quote based on your service schedule and previous records. Maintenance items already completed do not need to be repeated solely because a package name includes them. Any condition-based recommendation should explain the finding and the proposed work.

Are all repairs included in the service price?

No. Routine servicing covers the work listed in your quote. Diagnosis, wear-related replacements, body repairs and other additional jobs need their own scope and price unless explicitly included. Confirm the total, VAT and any further approval needed before work starts.
